One Illness Changed His Life

Ricardo Folgosa is a resident of Lar Rainha Santa Isabel and a cherished member of our community. His life took an unexpected turn when he lost his job due to a severe, life-threatening illness. The physical and emotional toll was overwhelming, but on August 13th, he was referred to the Lar by Dr. Garçes and Dr. Joâo Branco , marking the beginning of a transformative journey.

At the Lar, Ricardo Folgosa received compassionate and professional care from Fatima Curado and the dedicated staff. The support he found, from medical attention to emotional encouragement, made the Lar a sanctuary during one of the darkest periods of his life. Slowly but surely, Ricardo began to recover, regaining both strength and hope.

After three to four months of rest and rehabilitation, Ricardo was ready to take the next step in life. Nelson Reis, a board member at the Lar, presented him with an opportunity to work at the Lar. Ricardo eagerly accepted, feeling deep gratitude for the care he had received and a strong desire to give back to the community. Contributing to the Lar while rebuilding his life proved incredibly motivating for him, providing renewed purpose and fulfilment.
